Rayne was the venue, but the skies could not have been more clear and blue.

Roger Gooding kept up his prolific trail race organising with another excellent route through the Essex countryside. With the exception of two steep banks and the Notley Park hill the course was flat and very runnable. 1.17.09 for just over 12 miles of cross country is an impressive winning time from the trio of Allen Smalls, Sean Ketteridge and Adrian Mussett of Colchester (especially holding hands) and no one else came close. Top Striders were the Marks Newton and Waine who only parted company for the last stretch.

The ladies race was also a team effort with Angie Coster (Thrift Green) and Tracey Alexandrou just pipping the usual winner Tracey Woodyard by 4 seconds.
