Martini Table and Calculator"Any Place, Any Time, Anywhere"
Martini (Age Grade Calculator).
To feature in the table you must have completed road races over at least three of the following different distances:- 5 miles, 10k, 10miles, 1/2 Marathon, 20 miles and a Marathon. These may be anywhere in the country. It does not have to be a Club Championship event, but it must be officially measured.
When you have, Len Clark will be happy to add you to the list if you tell him your times, with some proof of your performance. He will select your three best performances, as calculated by the age graded tables and average them to produce a percentage for the Martini Table. Then you will be able to judge how well you are running for your age and sex compared to your colleagues.
We have now started the 2008 competition so make sure that the results of any odd "one off" races that you do are flagged up (we usually keep a track of events popular with Striders).
You can calculate your own Martini (World Association of Veteran Athletes, WAVA) rating by going to Martini (Age Grade Calculator). There is no 5 mile distances the nearest is 8k which is 4.97 miles. Len makes the necessary adjustments so that the resultant percentage equates to 5 miles.

What is Age Grading? Age grading is grading run
times based on a series of age factors or age standards
which can be used to compare performances at different
ages.
The Age Graded Tables were developed over a
period of years by the World Association of Veteran Athletes,
(WAVA), the world governing body for masters track and field,
long distance running, and race walking.
The tables are used by WAVA to award prizes by
age graded performance, rather than time by age group as is
usually done at
local races. The tables are graded by age and sex and correspond
approximately to world record marks for a person
of that age and sex.
The achievement levels are as follows:
100.0 = World - Record Level
over 90.0 = World Class
over 80.0 = National Class
over 70.0 = Regional Class
over 60.0 = Local Class
These tables compare the performance of all members against these standard irrespective of age and sex, for the Martini Trophy.
For example: if male aged 40
runs a 10k in 45.20 which produces a percentage grading of 61.47%
and
a female aged 45 runs a 10 mile in 1h 26m 34 sec 50.01, a grading
of 61.76%. This shows that the female's performance is better one
of the two.
You can also use these tables to to compare your own performances over the years to see whether or not you are running better now than in the past.
