Harlow Gold Rush

The latest race in the Essex Road Race Grand Prix took place at the Harlow 10(miles) on Sunday. With County medals up for grabs Springfield Striders were well to the fore.
Gary Chandler outsprinted his team mate Mark Newton to take overall gold as well as the V40 top spot. Newton, however was pleased to pick up silver in a new personal best time of 56.14. Lee Martin and Mark Waine ensured another team victory on the roads. Malcolm Savage claimed bronze in the V60 category.
The ladies team of Kate Mills, Nikki Brockbank , Lynn Tanner and Nikki Pyle were second in the team stakes but there was an individual gold for Tanner in the V55 as well as two silvers for Mills in the open and V35 competition.
With just the Wix 5 (miles) to come in October the Striders are well up in the Grand Prix standings with Kate Mills (open and V35), Lynn Tanner (V55), Malcolm Savage (V60) and Paul Molyneux (open) in gold medal position, with Gary Chandler and Paul Dobson in silver and bronze in the V40 category. The men’s team also lie in pole position, but the ladies have already retained their title with a race to go. Well done girls.
