Spring on the fells
Saturday 15th May - Mount Famine, 5m/1850ft, a long way for a 5 miler, but one of my favourite fell races; another day trip
or join Andy Mason for Cribyn, 5.5m/3100ft. Again a long way, to the Brecon Beacons; probably feel even longer on the way back.
Sunday 16th May - Surrey Hill Races, a choice of 18m/2535ft, 10m/1268ft or 6m/730ft; not many easier fell races than the last 2 of those.
races start south west of Dorking, details at www.sloweb.org.uk
Saturday 22nd May - Lletty, 9m/2900ft. (Inter counties race); another day trip, this time to the Clwydian Hills
and a couple of planned weekend trips
Friday 18th to Sunday 18th June - Midsummer Madness 3 day event on Midgley Moor near Hebden Bridge; good for anyone wanting to try fell running; accommodation is booked
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July - Brecon Fans weekend, Pen-y-Fan (3.5m/1930ft) & Fan-y-Big (10m/2200ft); a good weekend, but not really for beginners. Websites - www.penyfanrace.org.uk & www.fanybigrace.org.uk
ok, the last 2 aren't spring, but as weekends away a bit more notice is needed.
