Fun in the sun
Springfield Striders celebrated 25 years with a barbecue and trail race on Saturday. Club captain Anthony Marsh won at a canter then joined well over a hundred others for an enjoyable afternoon in the sun. With perfect timing the festivities finished just before the torrential rain arrived.
Lee Martin and Kate Mills were crowned club 5 mile champions at the Tilty Hilly race on Sunday in very muggy conditions. Stuart Putt and James Neugebauer joined Martin in claiming the team prize. Catherine and Darran Hull competed in the Staveley 17km trail race in the Lakes with Catherine beating her husband by seven minutes.
Nicole Callaghan travelled to the Whipsnade Zoo 10km and perhaps spurred on by the adjacent rhinos claimed a personal best.
At the Tiptree trail race on Sunday Jamie and Tracey Woodyard were first Striders back on an excellent course around Layer Marney.
This Friday the Striders host the eleventh running of their Friday Night Five (miles) from the Green Man at Howe Street.
