19/4, 10am 'The Swan' Rayne 10 Mile Trail Race

Postby Roj » Mon Apr 06, 2009 3:45 pm

'The Domingo Dash' is the first of three 10 Mile Trail Races in 'The Three Tenors' Trail Race Series. Kind permission from Dave Game for letting me borrow one of his Trail Race pub venues. The following two are from my previous Trail Race pub venues, 'The Carreras Canter' from 'The Onley Arms', Stisted (7/09?) & 'The Pavorotti Plod' from 'The George', Shalford (9/09?). I've been working on these for a few months now and unless you go wrong, they should all be exactly 10 Miles long. John & Len are kindly checking the Instructions/ Route for me. Stisted & Shalford are certainly more scenic, although this one has five small sections were you can save yourself a bit of time by going up two steep banks and making three crossings of the River Brain. Longer options are underlined in brackets for those not wanting to risk it! If you took the five longer options it would probably only add 3 minutes to your time. Nothing too mad, just a bit of fun! I'd advise spare shoes and maybe a towel for those going into the pub afterwards as the river crossings are towards the end of the 10 Miles. The landlord is going to do a BBQ aswell. Hopefully Ant will help me, timing people out at the start, to leave me to sign them on, or my head will explode! Cash prizes for the five Male & Female age category winners for accumulative times over all three races.

PS There is also a small boggy section, so hopefully there will be a downpour the night before!

I've checked the route again a couple of times since Len & John checked it for me last week. There are now only longer options underlined in brackets for those not wanting to get their feet wet on the three crossings of the River Brain and not for the two steep banks. (Len said that if he can get up them, then anyone can!) The Instructions are printed off too, so lets hope the council don't close any footpaths before Sunday! The last few times i've checked it, its been exactly 10.00 Miles! (That's if you do the three river crossings.) Add 2 minutes if you take the three longer options. Nettle free apart from the small boggy section, which i'll try and knock back and tape on Saturday. The first section is fairly easy going, but Miles 7, 8 & 9 could catch a few out!

PS Springfield Striders entry £2.00 and not £3.00.

John contacted me last night. He is kindly planning on doing a water station with Len at bang on 5 Miles. They will also check runners through. They will be there until 12.30pm'ish.
